Chromebooks et bicyclettes

Deux informations à rapprocher qui dessinent un futur pas forcément radieux. Vu chez Tristan Nitot, développé ici.

Il s’est vendu aux Etats Unis plus de chromebooks (ces petits ordinateurs idiots de chez Google dont j’ai déjà parlé ici) que de Mac aux premier trimestre 2016.

C’est assez inquiétant lorsqu’on pense l’ordinateur comme un outil qui influence notre façon de voir le monde. C’est d’ailleurs ainsi que le définissait Steve Jobs et vu le succès de ses produits, on peut sans trop s’avancer dire qu’il avait compris 2 ou 3 trucs sur nos rapports avec la technologie :

I think one of the things that really separates us from the high primates is that we’re tool builders. I read a study that measured the efficiency of locomotion for various species on the planet. The condor used the least energy to move a kilometer. And, humans came in with a rather unimpressive showing, about a third of the way down the list. Si l’ordinateur est la bicyclette de l’esprit, alors, le succès grandissant des Chromebooks – des terminaux qui ne garantissent aucun respect de la vie privée et qui enlèvent à leur utilisateur la liberté de choisir les outils avec lesquels il va pouvoir travailler, créer, s’exprimer – est préoccupant. Et c’est une litote.
